Machen Devils Under 9s with their coach Roger Small and President of Machen Rotary Club Hugh Clatworthy

A GROUP of young footballers were overjoyed when Machen Rotary Club paid for their new kits.

The Machen Devils Under 9s were sporting their new kit sponsored by Machen Rotary Club and hope to go from strength to strength in 2008.

Machen Devils are the local Machen junior football club, which has been running for the last seven years.

They aim to provide children from the area the chance to enjoy football and develop their skills.

Each week they play games against other clubs, something that the players really enjoy.

The under 9s have been running since Jan 2007 and Machen Devils club was formed in 2001. They now have approximately 90 members between the ages of five and 13.

As a club they would like to thank the Rotary Club for their support, especially the work of Mr Dave Phillips.

A club spokesman said: "The boys look really smart and are very proud of their new kit."
